Users experiencing errors signing into Vine's new Windows Phone app [Update]

Vine finally released its official app for Windows Phone 8 today, though it appears some users are unable to sign into the app at all.

Several users have tweeted to the @vinehelp Twitter account saying they're unable to sign into the Vine app for Windows Phone with their Twitter credentials, with some noting that special characters may not be properly recognized. Other users, however, has said enabling two-factor verification and generating a temporary password alleviates the issue.

It's not clear if the @vinehelp account is official or not, as it's not verified on Twitter, the social network that owns Vine. Regardless, the issue has been brought up by users not tweeting to the account as well.

The issue has occurred on two separate Twitter accounts Neowin has attempted to sign into Vine with. In both instances, the username and password combination are recognized as invalid, while two-factor verification generating a temporary password produced the following error:

A similar error message is displayed when attempting to sign into 6sec, a third-party Vine app for Windows Phone, when using both accounts as well. The third-party app worked for one of the accounts prior to the official Vine app's release; the second account wasn't tested prior to today.

Neowin has contacted Twitter regarding the issues and will update this article if a response is received.

Update: Twitter has not responded to Neowin's inquiry, though it did verify the @vinehelp account shortly after receiving the message. That account has posted numerous tweets saying it's looking into the matter.

Update 2: The @vinehelp account says the problem is occurring for users who have complex passwords, though a fix is in the works.
