Video: Samsung Galaxy S IV teaser released

Samsung is one of the biggest phone manufacturers out there and they have just released a teaser video for their upcoming Galaxy S IV which will be revealed on March the 14th at an event in New York. The reveal of the new phone is one of the most important events of the year due to Samsung's domination of the Android space. The new device will also go head to head with Apple's iPhone 5 and their upcoming iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 devices.

As you can see, the video doesn't show anything related to the phone besides the already-seen event invitation, but it certainly does show one thing: Samsung are finally getting good at commercials and engaging their target audience.

The biggest rumors relating to the new phone are about a brand new 1080p display as well as a custom made 8-core Exynos processor. According to these same rumors the Galaxy S IV will first launch in Europe and then come to the US afterwards, similar to the Galaxy S III launch. However that is still just speculation and the truth along with further details will be revealed at the event.

Good commercial... but unless it has a revolutionary new feature and it isn't made from the cheap plastic the SII + SIII are made from... I will skip this... let alone my upgrade isn't till October of this year, and by then, I'll probably go back to HTC or go to an LG android device, since build quality wise, they are much better. (IMO)

You forgot the original Galaxy S as well. The thing that ****es me off about Samsung is that all their phones look and feel the same - including the Windows Phones. Seriously, how many more years are they going to use the same old design?!

The last Galaxy devices use a poly-carbonate material, just like the Lumia's. Its not a cheap plastic. It is a plastic that is of a higher quality. I rather have it vs metal like the iPhone which dents equally as easy as the plastic and breaks or cracks which plastic usually doesn't. And even if I did crack it somehow, its cheaper to replace. If you prefer metal phones, HTC and Apple is a better option.

I think the S4 will be metal, I only hope not. But I have my GN2 and the GS4 isn't coming with an S-Pen likely so I will be happy with what I have.

Cheap plastic? lol okay. I've had my S3 since launch day, and not only has the "cheap" plastic held up, but it looks as it did on day one, flawless. You, along with most other bloggers, techies, and reviewers seem to forget that most phones prior to 2012 were made of primarily plastic. Now all of a sudden it's not just plastic, but cheap plastic? oooooook. Not everything needs to be made of aluminum (bending EVO LTEs anyone?) or glass to be considered premium. I much prefer my plastic phone with removable battery and expandable storage to some "marvel" in design that 1. lacks features that an android phone should not lack and 2. will become obsolete after a few months. HELLO HTC ONE!

uh...there is this thing about overhyping and then falling flat on your face. Samsung is fast heading in that direction with the S4 "reveal".

thats kinda original and funny - like it. but tbh, i cannot see myself buying another samsung android smartphone.

I would imagine there are some very nice new features on the software side. In terms of hardware tho, they can make the screen brighter, and bigger. The processor faster, but use less power. The phone lighter, but have better battery life. etc.

And...they sell a lot with the hype =P

What is wrong with the Galaxy S3? Why do we need a new one. Just upgrade the software on the S3!

Samsung doesn't make money on software updates, like most handsets there is a huge profit made from selling them and with Samsung being no1, on the android front now, they'll want to continue to have more revenue. So new handsets are needed, even if it's not a big update.
Unfortunately, Samsung isn't as good at marketing as Apple and they probably won't be able to sell the same thing twice.
They'll need some quite big changes to the hardware spec, otherwise it'll just be selling software toys on the OS and there might be another android phone that outdoes them. Their S3 already lost a lot of people due to the poor flexi plastic design, hopefully it's not a sign of things to come.

There, I fixed it for you, see how that works?

Well factually, Microsoft is the only company that makes money off software, when it comes to mobile devices or computers. Any company that makes a phone or computer makes money on the hardware. They need the software only to sell the device or computer. Because without software, they are all just fancy pieces if silicon with blinking lights.

"it certainly does show one thing: Samsung are finally getting good at commercials and engaging their target audience."
Really? Their audience is an annoying 10 year old? This was just really cheesy.

Only watching the videos first, my first impression was...
are Samsung really targeting their next phone at pre/young-teens?

I know the teenage market is one of the biggest, but this is just having a laugh.

I find it hard to believe any older teens who'll be actively asking for a particular handset from their parents for Christmas or what ever will be thinking this advert make the next phone cool. I'd not be surprised if it turned the handset into a lame kids toy and it become un-cool.

I'm curious to know when we'll be able to get rid of these silly EU first or NA first releases. No reason a global release shouldn't be viable in this day and age. Especially with the amount of money these guys make from us!

I wouldn't quite say that! I've got an S3 now and I honestly can't see myself upgrading to an S4, they are becoming stagnant like the iPhone has become. In a position of global Android leadership where they don't have to do anything innovative to get sales. Look at touchwiz (ok I know some people like it) but it's tacky and pointless, give me stock (or my own custom one ) any day.

Nokia Lumia 920 all the way!!!!!!!!

I'm with you man!!!! Best phone on the market! Let's hope MS are serious about WP and keep pushing us updates!

Love my S3...on Cricket for $70 a month 10GB data 4G! Fantastic hardware and service for a good price, what a concept! Not upgrading anytime soon as this phone is pretty much perfect for my needs...

Samsung...no innovation? Are you serious? (like the guy said it in the last Spiderman) Dude. Either you are blind or you aren't paying keen attention. You claimed you have the Galaxy S III. Compare it to the original Galaxy S, the Galaxy S II and then compare it to the last 3 iPhone's and claim there is no innovation.

Stagnant? WHERE?! I hated touchwiz on the Droid Charge I had because the phone was slow and the graphics are terrible. On the GS3 which I had but pasted to my spouse after getting the GN2 looks better than any skin to date. Its not heavy like Sense 4.0. Its clean, its easy to navigate and the GS3 along with the GN2 share features that the iPhone still can't do yet it cost MORE.

If you prefer vanilla Android, why didn't you get an LG device? Hey, LG just release a new device that resembles the GN2, why don't u go buy it an be happier. Yet you signed a 2 year deal to get a phone you don't seem to like?

I do like it? Yes i have noticed the difference between S and S2 and it's not as spectacular as you make it out to be. Just because I don't like an OS doesn't mean I don't buy the phone... That's a stupid assumption to make, it's flashed with either stock or a custom CM build of mine. Nothing, I say nothing will ever make me buy an LG product again... No contract was signed for the GS3, it's outright so even if I didn't like it I could easily take it back for a refund/change of purchase.
