Virtual CloneDrive

Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive, however it exists only virtually. Image files generated with CloneDVD or CloneCD can be mounted onto a virtual drive from your hard-disk or from a network drive and used in the same manner as inserting them into a normal CD/DVD drive. Probably the best virtual drive software, Virtual CloneDrive allows you to enjoy the freedom of a virtual drive and is completely free.

  • Supports all common image formats such as ISO, BIN, CCD
  • Supports up to 8 virtual drives at the same time
  • Easy to use - just double-click an image file to mount as a drive
  • Virtual CloneDrive is freeware, you may use it at no cost.

I used to use Daemon Tools Lite but I despised the image library bull****. It always remounted the last used image whenever I logged off or restarted and I just couldn't change that.

So I went back to this little epic program and I still love it. Gonna update it now

If you only need to mount ISO images, then Windows 8 built-in functionality is fine, but it doesn't support other image formats, so programs like this are still needed.

It was a nice program... but now Windows 8 can do this on its own.

Windows 8 can only mount images that are ISO format, so no, Windows 8 can't do everything this program does on it's own.
