Kaspersky virus scan found a trojan in the file and deleted it.

Well your virus scanner sucks. Because there is no trojan.

I upgraded it through the VLC program itself and it seemed fine and dandy, but when I tried to associate video files with my VLC program it would just cease to function. Now I uninstalled it and deleted everything left behind from it and installed it again and it works just fine now!
