It can also be used as a server for unicast or multicast streams in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

VLC Media Player now features fully customizable toolbars, customizable Skins, supports playback for broken files as well as zipped files, and so much more.

VLC Pre 1 released also vlc collects statistics about the playng media go to advanced tab then Interface and you see locally collect statisitics is clicked

Does anyone know if it's possible to play back videos in frameless RESIZABLE windows using VLC (with no borders or a title bar at all), just like it is with LightAlloy (http://www.light-alloy.ru/en/download_v46up_beta/) or The KMPlayer? Also it seems - at least in the case of the previous version - that, when you set it to play minimized as a Windows tray icon, its playback window is restored (shown again) when a next video playback is started.

Thanks in advance and have a Happy Prosperous New Year!

Press Control+H for minimal mode, or you could use SPlayer if you prefer players that play videos without installing codecs, and it has the interface you want.

VLC doesn't install codecs either?

I know that, so I was suggesting something similar.

VLC, KMPlayer, PotPlayer and SPlayer all work without installing codecs. SPlayer is the prettiest UI wise, but VLC is cross platform and has better performance on slower PCs.

Somehow, I have always preferred MPC-HC over VLC.

MPC-HC video quality is much better... Imo it is the best.

I see a very interesting line in changelog:

"* Port to Android, iOS, OS/2 and Win64"

A new official or Cydia version for iOS is coming ?
