White developer Xbox One Day One console currently on eBay

One of the rare white Xbox One Day One consoles that was made just for the console's development team at Microsoft is now on eBay, where it is currently on sale for the "Buy it now" price of $2,699.95.

The listing has a number of images of the console, which shows the “I Made This, Launch Team 2013" inscription on its white surface. It also contains a white Xbox One Day One controller with the same label and the seller is also throwing in a regular black gamepad as well.

The eBay listing says that the Xbox One Day One launch team console is technically "new", but it does add that the seller has removed the console from its package and plugged it in to make sure it was working. In addition to its "Buy it now" price, the seller is also considering any "best offers" from buyers. As of this writing, the eBay listing still has over two days to go before it expires.

Only two of the white Xbox One Launch Team consoles have been offered to the general public for purchase. Both were sold on eBay via auctions in 2013 and in each case, the money from the sales went to charity. One raised  £5,000 for the UK-based Gamesaid, while the other brought in $11,300 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Nah, I think the white looks cool, at least you can't see fingerprints as easy on the glossy bits! I HATE glossy black plastic. When I got my first PSP I hated the glossy black so much I took it back and exchanged it for the white. I also had to fit my 360S with a matte case, smudges are so irritating, it looks messy. All my other 360's have been matte, I just prefer it to glossy fingerprint magnet plastic ;) I'm not OCD or anything, but glossy black is my enemy!

I might buy the this one just for the colour, it is awesome! I'd be gutted if the board failed in it, though, although at that cost you'd be able to do a few board swaps and come nowhere near the original price!

Haha I just noticed, the Kinect is black! Bit daft with a white console, you'd think they'd make that white too!

I could only imagine how pissed someone would be after spending all that money only to have to console die after a few months. Hopefully it comes with the warranty intact

That's a good question! Also if they have enough of these rare ones made surplus to cover replacements would be another good question :) If they replaced it with a standard black one I'd be annoyed and want my money back!

I'm sure there will be some idiot who will pay $2700 for it. Just like there are people who buy monster cables.

white Xbox One for $2700 > $100 monster cable that cost $1 to make

Monster cables increase HDMI throughput by having fatter wires.. therefore better /s

Dont see a problem as long as the seller legally owns the device. He owns it an it is his to do with as he sees fit. Not really private either. Just a special edition X1 that was given to those who worked on the product.

why on earth would they get in trouble over this?
the employees own these and apparently just want to sell them for some extra cash.

Well, some people sell medals won during Olympic games... If, as I guess, the consoles are theirs, meaning they own them and there are no special restrictions, I don' see any legal issue.

Yet he comments as if he knows something >< there is irony here.

There are just special edition normal Xbox One consoles, not Dev kits.

Exactly, this is a launch team console, nothing to do with a dev console. If it was a dev console, it'd be removed from ebay within a matter of hours.

not too sure about this but as long as he owns that developer console he has the right to sell it. anyways wasn't there some patch coming up soon to allow a reg console to go into 'dev mode'? that will be something cool to work with
