White Xbox One development kit revealed

An Xbox developer has confirmed the existence of a white Xbox One, which as been used as a development kit internally at Microsoft. Could it be a glimpse at a future release?

A near final development model of the Xbox One has been leaked to Reddit with a white exterior. Based around the same shape and overall design of the announced black version, this device is sure to have fans begging to choose the colour of their next console.

While we have previously seen an array of discarded Xbox One prototypes, this leak is most interesting as the device is recent and does not have the abstract designs of previous development kits, suggesting it could be set for release. In regard to this model, and the previous striped versions, an Xbox One developer revealed on Reddit:

The zebra ones were also earlier devkits. We've gone though several revisions since the original alpha kit (giant server case) and the current one we have looks like the launch version.

Upon announcement, some potential customers expressed disdain over the Xbox's minimal and arguably uninspired design, in conjunction with disputes over DRM policies. With revised game sharing rules and now rumours of design tweaks, the Xbox One stands to be a very strong contender against the Playstation 4.

The Xbox One will be launched in November in 21 countries including the UK and US, and will cost $499 (£429).
