Windows 8 "Enterprise N" RTM has leaked

Just a day after Microsoft announced that the RTM build of Windows 8 had been completed, a copy of one of the many Windows 8 SKUs has found its way to a number of pirate torrent sites. We have confirmed that this build of Windows 8 that is currently available on these pirate sites is of the Windows 8 Enterprise "N" SKU. "N" editions are released in Europe and don't contain Media Player.

Additionally, Microsoft decided a few months ago to remove the ability for Media Player to run DVD movies in Windows 8, unless people downloaded the optional Media Center add-on package.

As with any leak, downloading and installing any pirated software to your machine has many risks, so proceed with caution.

We have contacted Microsoft for comment but their spokesperson told us that the company has "nothing to share at this time".

As a reminder, you can get Windows 8 starting on October 26th either by upgrading for $39.99 or with the purchase of a new PC. If  you buy an eligible Windows 7 PC today, you will be able to purchase an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 (U.S.) through the Windows Upgrade Offer.

They should have been selling the downloadable version instantly.

yup one of the best comments on here !

Its 2012 and marketing needs to move forward.
Whats with all this inovation and advancment chatter about Windows 8 changes
when your gonna sell it like its 1988.

To burn it just get winiso, ultraiso drag files and make a bootable ISO then burn it or use usb creator to put it onto USB so you can install.

Once installed: Install VMware and the KMS in VMware (the one you used to use for windows 7 activation) Then install this update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2691586

So now you have Windows 8 with VMware installed and the windows 7 KMS server with update installed within VMware!

Now just activate like you did in W7 via the KMS thats installed in Vmware...

Done!

I am sure someone will make this nab friendly soon.

I love piracy and have used pirated OS's in the past but i will be passing on this.
I have a folder of of licenses (stickers with key + hologram) for oem builds
many for every OS released in the last decade, but i always use an updated official
leaked iso from the internet.. my point ?
I HAVE legal licenses but i download pirated materials, just like say GTA 4 for example
or Counter-Strike or ALL the BF games.. so i buy + steal etc.
Which means the i lost money because of piracy thing is at minimum grossly inaccurate

If windows 8 wasn't a horrible vulgar display of Microsoft's stupidity
i *would download the leak.
But this garbage is not even worth the bandwidth..

Will gladly wait until August 15 when I can download it from MSDN. I am also purchasing three copies of the final release. At 39.99, its a steal. Been using Windows 8 since the Dev Preview everyday. If I am still using it up this point, I don't see what else could be preventing me from using the final release - I'm hooked!

Wow this is great, they added A LOT of features to the metro apps! For example you can start the music app in your library, IMAP support, better contacts and a lot more!

Waiting for Pro to get leaked.

Same here. But I don't think it will happen until the next week or so... Same as Windows 7.

I just went on google and made a search for it. Found a torrent site that as it and on the file list of the torrent i just found out that there is a OEM activation module included in it

Guess it is cracked in a sense. " if i can use that word in that way "

oem activation sounds like frankenbuild. mind hinting to a link?

If neowin gives me the ok to post the name of the file i will so you can search by yourself on google. But again it could get me in trouble .

I would suggest to google for : "Windows 8 enterprise RTM" or " Windows 8 enterprise leak" . or go on a few top torrent site " you know the one's " and search for the same terms.

Hmm, too expensive for what it is. I'll pass.

£15/$15 upgrade when you buy a new PC or $40/£25 if you upgrade from your present computer at the end of October. How is that expensive?! That's less than Apple would charge you. If you can't afford to save that up for the end of October then you have more problems than your computer.

It was a sarcastic remark to illustrate that I care not for this new OS, as in I wouldn't want it even if it was given away for free.

Since this is about the "free" pirated "leaked" version, I would of though most people would get the sarcasm. Guess not.

Not in it's current state. So no, I don't.

I am on the lower end of the income spectrum and I find the Win 8 upgrade price very appealing. I would have been tempted to pirate it otherwise to at least see if I liked it before buying. I think MS made the right decision with this new pricing.

Why pirate it? The Release preview is openly available to try out, I'm using it, it's very stable, as stable as Win7 I would say, for me anyway.

your ignorance is cute

Pirates having it first is hardly a new thing.

Im going to give this a try on the main PC. I am sure it will lock me out when the evaluation period has expired, till then Win8 it will be.

Have the first bugs be squeezed out between halfway August and than...

If you mean updates on Windows Update, then yes. But the image will be the same.

True but the graphics cards drivers aren't finalised yet from AMD and nVidia - I'm sure there are drivers from other vendors still being optimised so even if the image is the same there are drivers are need to be tested and delivered.

FarCry3r said,

well it IS Microsoft at the end of the day, like they need the $$$ (although with their $39.99 deal going it's harder to argue against them. but still...)

All the little pretty boy anti-piracy douches can kiss my ass @!

Amen

Question is, would this leaked build have the same requirement to enter a product key at the
start of the install wizard as was the case with the preview builds, or would it actually allow
you to complete the OS installation without entering a product key?

it'll probably ask for a key before installation

It does not require key at install.

It doesn't require key but it does require online activation or its a trial. I might wipe linux and use it on that pc till retail comes out. I can't wait lol

timster said,

No, it won't, as this is a Volume License copy of the OS. It never requires a key upfront, but it will cease to function in 3 days if not activated by a KMS server or MAK key.

Three days? Don't you mean 30? I mean what's the point of installing it if it's only going to last three days.

No he means 3, it's KMS.. that's how it works.

I just looked at the screenshots posted on pirate bay, why is there a watermark if its RTM? I'll wait for my legit Technet copy...

Because if you install using an enterprise evaluation key then it puts them on.

Jack O Neill said,

Because it's a volume license copy that hasn't been activated yet. Enterprise only works with VL keys. It bypasses key input on setup, but requires an activation server present in AD or a MAK key applied retroactively post setup.

It works that way so corporations can distribute copies of the software internally without sharing any keys with their employees.

tomwarren said,

I didn't know that... cool. My Technet doesn't have the enterprise stuff...

...installing any pirated software to your machine has many risks, so proceed with caution.

So you're encouraging piracy as long as we're cautious

COKid said,

The post says "so proceed...", that's encouraging. It doesn't say "don't touch it with a bargepole" or "don't use illegal copies", it says "so proceed..."

"Proceed with caution" isn't encouraging action. It's a normal way of writing a warning. Kind of like "If you DO decide to go ahead with it, don't say we didn't warn you. We're not recommending it."

Windows 8 will still have Windows Media Player even if certain functionality will be removed (DVD playback). This particular build does not have WMP because is a N verision.
