Windows 8 now showing up on Microsoft Connect?

Microsoft is working hard on Windows 8 and the multiple leaks show that the OS is progressing rapidly. If one source is to be believed, Windows 8 is now also on Microsoft Connect, in a tightly closed beta for OEM suppliers.

The information comes from bbs.ruanmei.com that states Windows 8 build 7971 showed up on Microsoft Connect in a tightly closed beta. Currently you must have an invitation key that is only good for either one use or one user to download the operating system. The program is being called "Windows 8 and Server vNext Pre-Release".

The user believes that if it is showing up for his company that it should also start showing up for other OEM distributors which could lead to a leak in the near future. At this time there is only one source for this information and until we can verify two independent entities have access to this program, the information should be taken with a bit of caution.

Windows 8 is expected to land at some point during 2012, with retail availability in January of 2013 according to recent rumors. It is also suggested that a beta may land as early as this Fall.

Seriously? That's what you are hoping for Windows 8? lol
I'm an OSX user and you would be surprised at how many of those things there are in OSX...
There are way more important things to fix/improve, lol

Well I really did not have much to complain about because I think Windows 7 is wonderful!!

#1 are you talking about the black square / rectangles that show up during the resize on the right and bottom of the form? if so I've complained about that since Longhorn beta and they always said it was either "fixed", or "doesn't happen" / "Can not reproduce" every time, reported it in W7 and got the same response......

and updated my computer? that is an LCD screen? what am I missing here?

Sorry I should have been more clear on that.
I mean Microsoft should upgrade the My Computer icon to a Widescreen LCD

what said,

Surely those are the kinds of things you would expect to be fixed in a normal Win7 update?

Well if thats the case then why has Microsoft not fixed these things?

Why don't you ask someone who would know? But the fact you're willing to throw money at something for those fixes says a lot when they should be fixed in Win7.

2. In Device Manager if you right click on a device and select Properties then if you hover your mouse over the red X close button it will flicker! I mean it will start blinking.

I know, I reported that in the Windows Vista beta years ago - and it was closed as [won't fix]. Then I reported it again in the Windows 7 beta - and it was closed as [won't fix], with a comment that is was a known issue. Known issue, no kidding, I reported that bug to Microsoft in 2006.

Even if they have existed for a while, that doesn't mean it's worth spending the time on fixing them (especially if the issue is planned to be fixed by other changes, like if they're planning to overhaul device manager, or such). Windows is a big project.

As for fixing issues in updates - I suspect the additionally issue there is risk.

Nope they should upgrade my computer to my computer instead to my monitor!

Well I think one big thing they should work on is touchscreen compatibility. Windows 7 is OK but some icons etc are really small. There are they Rumors about the windows 7 tablet edition but it seems like a quick fix.

I would also like to see more integration between windows 8 and WP7.

They should scrap Windows Media Player and integrate the Zune player instead!

Imagine the anti-competition lawsuits

Zune isn't touch friendly at all. It doesn't even have touch scrolling.

Nope they should just let itunes do the job. Like Steve Jobs. Burie zune already its a dead cow.

I still feel that it looks just like Win7 and is coming way too soon. They shouldn't release Windows8 till at least 2014 considering how well Win7 runs now. Take the time to do it really really well with alot of performance increases.

That would be because it's still incredibly early and the 'looks' aren't finalised until well into the beta stages...

The problem is if they did that, then they will have another XP on their hands where people will just not upgrade.

It would possibly be worse then XP as XP was a VERY VERY VERY ****ty product when released whereas W7 was (and still is) great - not to mention it got great reviews everywhere.

Even with this early release I don't think too many people will switch over just because W7 is so strong. If they integrate things like cloud services too much people might actually convince themselves to NOT switch over.

That's not a bug! It's a feature.
