Windows Phone 8 random reboot fix coming in December

Good news everyone! Microsoft has apparently identified the issue with Windows Phone 8 that is causing some devices to randomly reboot, and will be delivering an update over-the-air to devices sometime in December. They didn't specifically mention what the cause of the issue was, or whether it affects all new Windows Phones, but the good news is that there is a fix.

We’re continuing to investigate some reports of phones rebooting and have identified a cause with our partners. We are working to get an over-the-air update out in December.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X we have in our office here hasn't experienced any random reboots as far as we're aware, but for those of you who are annoyed by the issue you shouldn't have to wait much longer for a fix.

Good. Had to get up early today and take the wife to work because her lumia 920 crashed overnight and the alarm failed. My tiredness is entirely Microsoft's fault!!

I have had not any problems that others have been having with the L920. It seems to me that a lot of the problems are with the US devices, I am in Canada.

Why wait until December to release it? Of course it's not far off, but...

They have identified it , then they have to code the fix , test it multiple times and stuff , and then release it. Should take couple of weeks.

You sound like my boss. Who demands an immediate patch for an issue which isn't thoroughly tested and wonders why unexpected things happen.

December is only 4 days away...

Yeah, let the release a patch without testing it first and then when couple of new problems appear lets all whine in a choire how bad MS is.

If you have a phone that's rebooting, please tell us what make/model it is.

HTC 8x had it for two weeks, rebooted from 0 to 7 times a day, now its bricked for some reason. Awaiting delivery of a new one from O2

Thank you! Mine has done this at least twice a day every day. It is a pain in the butt.

You mean to say they are actually going to fix it, and that people weren't just holding it wrong? Amazing!

Microsoft have a great history of admitting problems and fixing them, they are not Apple.

I know that. I was contrasting the approach of the two companies.
