Windows Phone 8.1 to start rolling out in the first half of July

Microsoft India's Twitter account has revealed that the Windows Phone 8.1 update will start rolling out in the first two weeks of July.

There has been plenty of speculation about the official release of Windows Phone 8.1, however, with no official word from Microsoft regarding the rollout of the upcoming update to the Windows Phone platform, many users have taken to social media to enquire about the release. One such user has received a reply from Microsoft India.

It cannot be determined whether this rollout is specific to India or a general time frame for the update's global rollout. With July starting next week, we shouldn't have to wait long to gain a better understanding of the deployment strategy.

Hold on Neowin.
Earlier in the week you tell us it's rolling out that day, then you tell us it's during the first two weeks of July, THEN refer people to that schedule on the Lumia Black page from Nokia.

DECIDE WHEN IT IS!

That's the point. Those who tell, don't know. Those who know, don't tell. We just have to wait and see until we hear it officially. Everything else is just fluff and click-bait.

Touche! Good point!

Why do these threads always have to get taken over by Americans complaining about AT&T? If the service is so bad switch to someone else and stop complaining but stop taking over the internet with your moaning.

It is not that the service is bad, it's just slow as hell when they are going to rollout updates. And this is the freedom that the internet provide to everybody so we can say whatever we need to say about any company.

I'll make you a deal. As soon as all you non Americans stop complaining about "US only" features/services/promotions in every other thread, we'll stop complaining about AT&T.

Trust me, it's not an equal comparison. Literally every phone-related thread it dominated by complaints about AT&T.

Just stay on topic.

I'll switch if you'll pay for a new contract. Until then, I have the right to complain all I want. You're not neobond, so what makes you think you can stop us Americans from complaining? Your logic detector is broken, apparently. Switch services? That's not the problem. It's a corporate issue. Don't be so quick to judge, my friend.

Back on topic: At least we know when to expect to possibly have a finalized version. I know I'm excited! Can't wait for the cyan firmware update that'll hopefully solve the battery drain issue. I don't get a full day out of my battery, when I used to get three.

He is staying on topic, and yes it is fair comparison. You're talking about being annoyed, and so was he.

More on topic: I doubt Sprint phones will ever receive the update. I've been using 8.1 for a while, but without proper firmware from HTC, Wi-Fi causes my phone to ferociously vibrate and reboot very frequently. It's quite annoying.

And every Beta or Preview release is dominated by people outside the Beta audience complaining that it isn't in their region...

Beta's have to focus on one thing at a time. Explaining why a Beta can't just be opened to the entire world shouldn't have to be explained...

Can i point out i am sceptical though as this is Microsoft India saying there roll out it could be longer till UK/US release theres

When are they rolling out some new devices on AT&T? Their lineup is getting stale.

I keep seeing July for the 930 in different markets, while the 930 isn't going to AT&T etc I think it's a indication that July is going to be a busy month overall. They've done a good job of keeping things under wraps so far. So safe bet is July-August I'd say.

I've been wondering the same thing. Where are the new phones?

I believe this will be the case for everyone, the rollout should start in July and be pretty much done by end of August depending on carrier and so on. There's no real reason to just start it in India and then wait to roll it out in other places.

Maybe, maybe not though. Now that MS is the one covering these devices they could have more control with AT&T and other US carriers. The carriers outside the US have done a good job of not delaying things though.
