Xbox 360 Fall 2011 dashboard update public beta now open

If you have been wanting to get into the Fall 2011 Xbox 360 dashboard update program, your wait may be nearly over. Microsoft has updated its beta testing page which likely means that public registration will be opening soon.

Microsoft has updated its connect.microsoft.com to say, "We are now accepting new users into the Xbox LIVE Update Public Preview - Fall 2011 session. If you clicked on the link from Major Nelson and have not registered yet, please make sure you sign in with a Windows Live ID in the upper right hand corner. You only need to register one time."

This public beta will most likely be the last testing phase before the dashboard is rolled out to the masses. While the registration has not opened yet, we suspect that it will be opening very soon as the page was updated not that long ago.

Thanks for the tip Xerax

[Update] The page is now live, you can sign up by visiting this link here

It doesn't start for another 2-3 weeks so you will only get a e-mail then.

No it's an international company.

No, it's an American company with international operations. Get over yourself already.

Will you please stop saying Fall 2011. When is that? By reading that here, I always assume you mean March to May.

It is Spring now. Damn Americans thinking they are the centre of the world.

Are you the center of the world? Just translate it to your hemisphere and stop complaining. It's a northern hemisphere-based company.

More like northern hemisphere. Just see it as New Dashboard Update

Signed up, hope I get in.

Yeah they changed it so they don't require serial and/or model numbers anymore. Although I do have them on my WP just in case.

"If you are reading this message you have successfully completed your registration for the program and no further action is necessary at this time. The program will officially start within the next two weeks, at which time all registrants will receive an e-mail update informing you of your program status. Until then, please be patient and check back on this site for general program related updates."

"We're sorry, but at this time we are not currently accepting registrations for the public preview program stay tuned for future updates when the registration process begins."

Of course it helps if you use the registration link at the bottom of the story.

It's actually been live for a long time now, for at least a month I noticed.

They changed the message, FYI:

"Public Preview Program: We're sorry, but at this time we are not currently accepting registrations for the public preview program stay tuned for future updates when the registration process begins.
"

Im getting this!

The system has encountered an unexpected error. We apologize for the inconvenience. The issue will be addressed as quickly as possible.

If this error continues, click the Help link at the top of the page to report the issue and include this error ID in your e-mail: f51d1ba2-55ff-4e38-a22b-5084d4a1b6d6

I just tried logging in, and the message I get is as follows:

We're sorry, but at this time we are no longer accepting registrations for the public preview program as we have reached our target audience volume.

Yeah I have this as well now, seems surprising, I'm sure last year the applications were open for several days, seems strange they'd go so quickly.

Hopefully the sign up starts soon. I signed in and clicked 'Register' like requested but I was expecting a registration form of some sort. There was a rumor going about the new update hits 25th Nov. I'm wondering if that is true? If so it can't be a very long beta surely. Either way I'm looking forward to the public beta, the new dashboard is looking awesome!

Well, I was a member last year of the live update program so it is already added to my dashboard, looks like who ever participated last year possibly are automatically in

Not true. Adding it to your dashboard does 'basically' nothing. They will have an application forum like they have always had asking for your console ID and other information.

Nothing on Major Nelson's blog so it is not live yet..

But nobody said the applications were live though, did they. The article purely says that the connect page has been updated with some words regarding the public preview. Nothing more, nothing less.

As Spork said, the article clearly says the registrations are not open yet.

I get exactly the same..

Mine's saying Remove from Dashboard, I don't think I saw an Add to Dashboard button.

Same here. When I try clicking remove, I get that there was an error.

When I go to connect.microsoft.com I get this message -

Bad Request - Invalid Header

HTTP Error 400. The request has an invalid header name.
