Why not?

It's a pointless article. Next time a tech related term trends on Twitter, will we see a news article?

$60... a year.... a year.... not every 6months...not every 3 months... not every month... but $60yr...

If $60 per year (yes everyone would prefer free...but its not) is a problem... I don't think XBox Live should be high on the priority list in their/your life...

When the service doesn't do ANYTHING except get me a gold status so MS can rip more $ from me then yes its a problem. As a PC gamer since 95, and knowing everything the PC and PS3 can do without needing monthly VIP fees (Netflix, Mutliplayer, ETC) its a huge rip off. Not to mention all of MS' online games for the 360 used User xboxes as the servers, thats why games were so much smaller then their PC brethren and even some PS3 games. There is NO reason other than a cash grab. There is NO plus to getting XBL Gold, hell even PSPlus gives you free games. I rake in almost 6 digits a year so $ isnt the problem, its the principle of the thing. You wanna waiste your money and contribute to MS charging for services that have been free for DECADES then go ahead and get in the pen with the sheep.

Yup because it costs MS nothing to own and run the servers and policy the service. Oh no wait... yes it does.

Run its own servers for what? Multiplayer games were hosted off of your console not their servers. The only servers they put up were there own for the marketplace which pays for itself and matchmaking which didnt need to be. for TENS OF YEARS publishers and devs put up their own servers you used after you PAID for the game, or you could put up your OWN server. the Cost you speak of was generated by MS due to having XBL Gold in the first place.
