XOLO launches its first Windows 8.1 tablet: the 'Win'

Indian brand XOLO has until now focused exclusively on Android smartphones and tablets. But like a growing number of brands, the company is looking to Windows to expand its portfolio of devices.

XOLO has now launched its first Windows 8.1 tablet, a 10.1-inch device with an aluminium body. The XOLO Win features an AMD Temash A4-1200 CPU with Radeon HD8180 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, along with a microSD slot and microHDMI port.

The device's dimensions are 266 x 167.8 x 12mm, and it weighs in at 750g. Its display resolution is modest, at 1366x768px rather than Full HD, and the manufacturer says that its battery is good for up to six hours of use. A key selling point of the Win against Android tablets is that it comes with Microsoft's Office Home and Student 2013 pre-installed, which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The device is priced slightly higher than the company's range-topping Android tablet, the Play Tegra Note. The XOLO Win is available to buy exclusively from Flipkart.com for Rs.19,990 INR (just under $340 USD) including taxes and free shipping. There are also a range of offers to sweeten the deal, including 50% off the purchase of a Bluetooth keyboard, Rs.1500 of free e-books, and Rs.200 cashback if you rate and review the product after purchase. You can also get up to Rs.5000 off the cost of the Win if you exchange your old tablet.

XOLO has also promised to launch its first Windows Phone devices this year, priced between $150 and $300, although it appears that those plans have been delayed. Back in December, the company said that it expected its first WP handset to launch in the first quarter of this year.
