ZoneAlarm Free

ZoneAlarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers. This program includes four interlocking security services: a firewall, an application control, an Internet lock, and Zones. The firewall controls the door to your computer and allows only traffic you understand and initiate. The application control allows you to decide which applications can and cannot use the Internet. The Internet lock blocks Internet traffic while your computer is unattended or while you're not using the Internet, and it can be activated automatically with your computer's screensaver or after a set period of inactivity. Zones monitor all activity on your computer and alert you when a new application attempts to access the Internet.

I could not find any way to open some ports in za free, plus it slowed many websites to a crawl. Had to uninstall.

U Torrent worked when I tired it. Well I thought I give this a try anyways but went back to Comodo. My pc slowed way down and boot times were twice as long. I like the game mode but thats about it.

i tried this and it made utorrent 1.6.1 disappear. it was still there in task manager. i couldnt start it again cause it was still 'running'. i tried to kill the process. no luck. i uninstalled zonealarm and now utorrent shows up right when i start it. not at all happy with zonealarm (yes, it was set to allow utorrent access, etc)

I installed the Pro Version 15 day Trial...and when it 'blacked out' my screen like Nvidia does when installing a Graphic when i removed this over-rated program.....what does this program have to do with messing with video

I do agree that Comodo can be a pain asking you the questions over and over. Too many alarms at times.

Dude I am not talking about myself. I am talking in general. There are alot of people on here who dont know. Ask any expert and they will say you need both. Stop being a jerk.

That's why I'm posting here: to let more ppl know. What is an "expert" for you? Experts don't need "personal firewalls" nor virus scanners, they have Brain 1.0 and a stable security plan.

Ever hear of 'drive-by' installers? Or malware infected software from supposedly trusted sources? There's no such thing as a perfect security plan. Even 'experts' need tools for the inevitable accidents that having an online life brings.
I for one would rather have the resources available and not need them than the reverse.

Outbounds you want to block are caused by bad software on your computer, right?
So if there's already bad software on your computer, you should think about the causation, not about fighting its effects...

and how would you know of the causation if it werent for your firewall telling you of the effects. Besides surely its better to stop illegitimate outbound traffic that could carry sensitive date regardless of if you know the cause!

Comodo Free Firewall is alot more secure.

I dissagree. I just removed Comodo as I had so many problems with it letting traffic I told it to block in and out. That and the fact that it would ask me about the same things 5 times and then forget them on my next session.

I just went back to ZA free and will stick with it. This is the only firewall I am considering buying the pro version of.
