A behind the scenes look at Cyanide's Game of Thrones

We've got a real treat for fans of A Game of Thrones: Cyanide Studios released an awesome new video today, giving fans a behind the scenes look at their upcoming RPG inspired by the books and TV show, including never before seen gameplay footage.

The video takes a look at the game's playable characters, Mors, the 'Butcher' of the Night's Watch, and the Red Priest Alester, and shows off some of the game's settings. The developers explain that they've taken great pains to make sure that the game meshes perfectly with the universe described in the books (they started developing the game 7 years ago, long before the TV show, although they've since adapted some elements to match it).

Still, the game features an all original story, and the developers promise plenty of surprises. They've been working very closely with George R.R. Martin, who has been providing feedback and assitance on development. Actually, if you watch the video closely, it looks like he might have a cameo in the game...

Game of Thrones is due out on May 15th in North America, and June 1st in Europe, for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. From what we can tell, it looks like a huge improvement to A Game of Thrones: Genesis, Cynaide's all-but-forgotten (it's for the best) turn based strategy title, boasting Witcher-like gameplay and some interesting gameplay elements. We're really excited about this one, and can't wait to give it a go!
