Another round of updates for Windows 8.1 Preview

Patch Tuesday is happening more frequently at the moment, for the Windows 8.1 Previews at least. Just two weeks ago, the first round of updates for the Windows 8.1 Preview arrived and today, any of you preview users out there should start getting a Windows Updates available status, depending on your settings of course.

Like the previous updates, both x86 and x64 versions will be available, but only two updates specifically mention compatibility with the Windows RT 8.1 Preview.

Issues address include a compatibility update for Windows 8.1 and RT 8.1, fixing scrolling issues in ListView and improving the search experience in SkyDrive. You can see the full list, plus links to the Microsoft KB articles here.

You can download the updates manually, check Windows Update for their availability, or if you’re configured to automatically download and install updates, you won’t have to do anything but wait for the magic to happen. This second wave of updates also show that Microsoft is committed to bring the best possible experience to the OS’ early adopters. Jolly good show Microsoft!

Thanks to Mephistopheles for the tip!

Last Tuesday, the "official" Patch Tuesday if you will, also saw a handful of updates for the 8.1 preview. So, thus far, MS has published updates every Tuesday since the release of the preview...i'm liking this

Got 5 updates on my Surface RT.

Enjoy them, at the rate OEM's are dropping their RT tabs they'll probably be the last.

WTF are you talking about, Microsoft isn't dropping support for the Surface RT for years.
Go away, troll.

Please read what he's put. He's said OEM partners, I don't think you can call Microsoft an OEM partner. He's right......at least I think OEM partners will be dropping RT by the bucket load.

Ask me why you would want RT when you have new tablets coming out running on the new silvermont / baytrail / haswell chips. They are much faster, cooler, draw less power and cheaper.

If they are even the same price as arm, why would you want to pick RT over full Win8?

Windows Updates: Pretty much the ONLY thing you can look forward to installing on Windows RT

Doesn't Win 7 have that problem as well? I stopped putting computers to sleep because all kinds of things were messed up when it woke - networking and printer and plug & play - it was ugly.

Not a problem I've ever seen. It's the kind of thing that sounds more like a driver bug. Resuming from sleep is something that hardware vendors (in general, not just network) used to miss in their testing but generally seems better these days. Try updating your drivers, see if this has any effect.

Drivers are updated, 7, 8 worked fine 8.1 as soon as i close the lid both wired and wireless die and wont come back until a full reboot

This is really annoying; my Surface RT does something similar. If I let it sit overnight (which obviously I do) - then next day usually networking stack is all messed up and I need to reboot it to get it back.

@ +spur: If we mean the same thing (box that shows the name of one file passing by while scrolling), then it was there before. Just checked and haven't updated, yet.

I've noticed a little preview box highlighting the files scrolling in detail/list view, when dragging the scroll bar; A lot easier to read and i don't think it was there before?

Actually only detail view.

What about skydrive stability improvements ... keeps crashing on my 2 PCs with 8.1

They're still working out how to give the NSA simultaneous access to it without crashing it, so hang in there.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh man, these jokes NEVER STOP BEING FUNNY. My side hurts SO MUCH from laughing at these jokes that NEVER STOP BEING FUNNY.

It's SO GREAT because it's not like there's ANY ACTUAL PROOF and Microsoft isn't even allowed to defend themselves but the HUMOR IS JUST SO COMPELLING.
