A GERMAN SHOP is advertising new shiny processors from AMD that won't be released for a few weeks yet. And Microstar International has also jumped the gun and breached the embargoes in place by releasing specs and pictures of a 754 pin motherboard which uses the Via K8T 800 and 8237 silicon. The German site lists two Athlon 64s, one with a PR rating of 3200 and the other with a PR rating of 3200, which is equivalent to 2GHz. As always with the Athlon 64s, it's all a little puzzling, because the site shows one chip at €549 and the other at €569. One's boxed, the other's not...
No puzzle about the MSI board though, and on the page there's a huge warning about motherboard or system configurations not working smoothly with the JEDEC settings. You lot are going to have to fiddle with the BIOS, if you know what that is. Don't blame MSI, OK? The MSI page warns: "Note: PC3200 (DDR400) maximum 4 banks (2 double-sided) only. Due to the High Performance Memory design, motherboards or system configurations may or may not operate smoothly at the JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) standard settings (BIOS Default on the motherboard) such as DDR voltage, memory speeds and memory timing. Please confirm and adjust your memory setting in the BIOS accordingly for better system stability.
"Example: Kingston HyperX DDR500 PC4000 operates at 2.65V, 3-4-4-8, CL=3. For more information about specification of high performance memory modules, please check with your Memory Manufactures (sic) for more details."
