Best Buy pulls out of Nvidia special offer

I saw this in my local Best Buy flyer this weekend, but the price was certainly NOT $129, as was seen on their web site earlier this week, according to a report over at the The Inquirer. (Would have been really really nice to have a gf4 4600 for 129 bucks... deal of the year I would have thought... Ed!

BEST BUY has become a US doppelganger for Kodak, after it advertised and sold boards for $129.99 as a result of what it claims is a mistake.

Unknown numbers of customers ordered the VisionTek Geforce 4 TI 4600 from Best Buy over the last few days and now the company has said it was all just a terrible mistake and the real price should have been $399.99 ($400 if you eliminate the daft sales spin).

Here is an excerpt from an email being sent to customers who ordered the video card priced in error.

A recent systems error on our web site allowed you to purchase the VisionTek GeForce4 Ti 4600 Graphics Card at $129.99. The actual price for this item is $399.99. Due to the nature of this error, we have canceled your order for this item. We apologize for any disappointment this cancellation may cause.

We would like to inform you that the error has been fixed, and if you are still interested in ordering this product, please visit https://www.bestbuy.com/ComputersPeripherals/details.asp?e=11099619&m=488&cat=521&scat=522 to place your order again. This card is available as a special pre-order. It will begin shipping on 3/4/2002.

Bestbuy do have a disclaimer on their site, regarding pricing errors... (Do I sense a class action suit coming... Ed!)
Prices and availability are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions (including after an order has been submitted). Best Buy may, at its own discretion, limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household or per order. These restrictions may include orders placed by the same BestBuy.com account, credit card, and also orders which use the same billing and/or shipping address. Notification will be sent to the e-mail and/or billing address provided should such change occur.
There is also quite a few lively threads on Usenet brewing regarding this topic (links via groups.google.com) ...
