Casio's WSD-F10 is a rugged Android Wear smartwatch

Casio has finally thrown their hat into the smartwatch ring by offering their own rugged Android Wear smartwatch dubbed 'WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch'.

Today, the watchmaker announced their smartwatch that offers the power of Android Wear, but also offers a rugged exterior that will allow the watch to survive a brute of harsh elements. The watch offers a 1.32-inch dual layer display (320×300 pixels), MIL-STD-810 compliance, water resistance up to 50 meters, pressure sensor, compass, accelerometer and app support.

While the watch does offer a wealth of options, it does suffer from the same drawbacks as most Android Wear smartwatches in that it cannot last for more than a day on a single charge. Although this might be okay for those that have the ability to charge up, those in the outdoors might not always have quick access to a power outlet. But, there is a silver lining to the battery issue, with Casio including a "Timepiece Mode" that will utilize the dual layer display, to display time in a simple monochrome mode.

The watch is slated to make its debut in the Japan and the United States sometime in Q2 of 2016 with pricing around the $500 range.
