Deutsche Telekom targets September 26 as Mango release date

Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) will bring over 500 new features to the platform and is highly anticipated by many. Microsoft showed off the update a few months back and since that date, many have been wondering when it would finally roll out to existing users.

We have seen previous reports of the 27th and Microsoft has even said it would roll out in the next week or two, but Deutsche Telekom, via WPcentral, is now stating that it will begin rolling out the Mango update on the 26th, as stated by Chip.de.

The update will be a big improvement for the platform and will help to level the playing field for Microsoft. But, all eyes will be on the vendor when they do begin the update as the last major update, NoDo, did not go as smoothly as Microsoft would have desired. Microsoft knows that it has to get this update correct, otherwise consumer confidence in the company's ability to successful update its devices will be lost.

For Microsoft, Windows Phone is the future for the company's mobile offering. After canning its previous OS and started from scratch, Windows Phone has been off to a slow start. Despite this, the company is heavily invested in the OS and with a slew of new hardware on the horizon, Windows Phone 7.5 will be a competitive choice for the holiday shopping season.

mango, apple, icecream, sandwich, honey all suck these days, no proper release date just rumors.

There's no set release date for something like Mango since it's going to be a rolling update and some will get it one day while others get it the next. It's not like Windows Updates that come on the same day each month.

you just wrote icecream sandwich as two separate words, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

+1. I don't understand how people could still be making a big deal about Mango's release. Maybe iOS' or Android's next release as nothing has been mentioned about their release dates, but for Mango Microsoft said "fall" and it's coming out the first week or two of fall. What more do people want?

In this instant gratification world, they want it yesterday.

its not about the damn instant gratification, the thing is they should have a date or time frame fixed for releases.. its not their fault its the RUMORS and FAKE news and that later on the new date shows up.

what? I'm only talking about icecream sandwich being one or two words; not talking about the rest of his sentence (not like it matters).

Is Neowin having some problems?
I'm getting this no matter where I click, except news.

http://www.neowin.net Driver Error

There appears to be an error with the database.

I can't go to my profile, forums, other people's profiles.

And funnily, on the main page(neowin.net), where there is a forum post entries on the right-side, is completely empty.
And when I bring my mouse over to the Forum button on the blue bar, there is a drop down column of Blogs entries and forum posts. The forum post one's is also empty. It's just empty space.

I'm posting here, because I can't access anything but news.

Oh, thanks for telling.

Though it would have been better, if they had mentioned this in a front page news. Because even Contact Us is not working.

I wonder if tomorrow unbranded phones will get Mango, or 27?

at least is nice people getting updated in similar days. tomorrow this carrier, on 27th AT&T. Verizon 27th.

and my only hope is that no phone is going to fail updating, so people wont complain, call Microsoft fail and never blame the company (= Samsung) that made the phones fail...

Now for news for Australia.....

It seems that Telstra is ready to release Mango as well as of the 24th of September and is waiting for Microsoft to give it the go ahead to release it.

I haven't received anything yet :-(. My phone is branded by T-Mobile (Germany) but live Aus. I wonder if that will make a difference?
