Facebook launches their own “retweet” service

Facebook has launched their own version of Twitter's “retweet”, where a user will share the same posted message to all of their followers from another page. The update is live to all of Facebook’s 350 million users under the “Share” button, but only available on posted links.

Users will only be able to share links that their friends post and not actual status updates. The feature is now available on the main feed and on your friend’s walls. Users will only be able to use the “via” feature on previously shared articles for now, available with the option to remove the link back.

The “via” share feature will automatically tag your friends in any posts, unless users choose to remove the status tag, using the “@” status tagging launched back in September 2009.

Twitter's influence on Facebook appears to be growing, as Facebook continues to add similar features, in different variations.
