Gearbox Software releases new Borderlands 2 DLC setting the stage for its sequel

While Borderlands 3 was officially announced earlier this year in March, it wasn't until last month that we got a closer look at the gameplay with new features, content, and a raft of bizarre guns. While there may be great anticipation for the upcoming title, it seems that the developers aren't quite finished with the current installment, Borderlands 2.

As revealed in the trailer, Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary DLC will set the scene for what's to come in Borderlands 3. It will also include a raft of extra goodies including new heads and skins, increased level cap, a new "effervescent loot tier", and more.

For those interested in picking up the latest DLC you can do so right now for free until July 8 provided you already own Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC. While you wait for the content to download, you might also want to check out the official E3 trailer for Borderlands 3:

The two-minute trailer gives us a quick look at each of the four new Vault Hunters and their special abilities which include Moze (the gunner), FL4K (the beastmaker), Zane Flynt (the operative), and Amara (the siren). While mainly cinematic in nature, it does reinforce the general gun-toting vibe of the franchise while progressing the establishing story.

Borderlands 3 will officially be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (via the Epic Games Store) on September 13 while the title will be made available on Steam from April 2020.
