Gears of War 4 coming this October, beta launches this month

After Microsoft bought Gears of War from Epic, gamers have been hungry to know when the highly-anticipated continuance of one of Xbox's most important franchises would be available to play. Today, Microsoft has confirmed both a release date for Gears of War 4 and its multiplayer beta on Xbox One and Windows 10.

On October 11, 2016 gamers will be able to pick up a copy of Gears of War 4, which serves as a sequel to Gears of War 3, and focus on the legacy of Marcus Fenix. JD Fenix, Marcus' son, and many other new characters will make their debut for the franchise in Gears of War 4.

If you bought a copy of last year's Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, you'll be happy to know that you'll have a guaranteed invite to play the multiplayer beta for Gears of War 4 on April 18. The beta is only available on Xbox One but PC gamers that played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 will still be able to redeem their beta invite on an Xbox One if they want.
