Grand Theft Awesome: Rockstar releases wave of new GTA V screenshots

Rockstar broke our hearts in January when it announced that the long-awaited next installment in its Grand Theft Auto series had been delayed, and is now due to hit stores four months later than its original release date. It's been five years since GTA4 landed, and while there's still a long, long way to go until the September 17 release date, Rockstar is doing its best to keep us drooling in anticipation of GTA V.

Having already teased us with a trailer, along with lots and lots of in-game screenshots, Rockstar is at it again, today unleashing 10 new screenshots showing us some of what to expect in the new game.

GTA V is set in and around the fictional city of Los Santos, which Rockstar calls "the largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created."

Gameplay extends across the city "and for miles beyond – from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean," Rockstar says.

As we've seen in earlier screenshots, there'll be plenty of airborne action to look forward to as well.

So far, Rockstar has only confirmed GTA V will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; no official word on a PC version has been given despite hints that imply one may be coming.

There's still a few months before we can finally journey across San Andreas state to Los Santos, but that's one trip we're really looking forward to.

Exactly...I like how the editor only said "No official word on a PC version"...umm...what about PS4 & 720!!! From the moment they mentioned this game, I thought it should have been designed ONLY for Next Gen consoles, but I guess $$$ is the deciding factor, and there is a bigger marketshare of 360/PS3s.

Neogamr is for PC gaming, likely because they didn't want to pull too much traffic from Neowin. It is disappointing though, how very few articles get posted, when there is very much an abundance all over the web dedicated to PC gaming news.

Yep.

I hope so too. Watch Dogs is a serious game (which I am also excited for), and Saints Row is over-the-top (which I am not interested in at all), so I hope GTA V is in-between.

That's a good way of saying it. V should have a happy medium between silly and serious.

Hopefully this lives up to the story/graphics of GTA IV. Loved it so much. And I enjoy SR as well for being over the top while this is more realistic-ish.

I really hope V doesn't try to take itself too serious like IV did.

I miss the style from GTA 3 and older where the main character doesn't speak.

Yes, couldn't agree more, needs to have some of the less serious elements of 3 and SA

This. There is NO way that the actual game play graphics will look that clean on a PS3/XBox.

Agreed, these are _RENDERS_ and NOT normal game screenshots.
