Images of Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 Windows Phones leak

Folks, it’s time to stop your grinnin' and drop your linen! What appear to be the first marketing shots for the next iteration of Nokia’s Lumia have hit the internet, courtesy of Twitter user @evleaks. If these images turn out to be genuine, it’s going to be a very exciting time for Nokia and Microsoft.

September 5th is when Nokia are due to lift the shroud of secrecy around the latest Windows Phone 8 devices. There have been a couple of images leak previous to today, along with codenames; the Arrow looks set to become the Lumia 820 and the Phi the Lumia 920.

Apart from the sizes of the screens on each device, there is really nothing more we can tell you at this point. The 820 has a 4.3 inch screen and the 920 has a 4.5 inch screen. According to evleaks, the 920 will have PureView, but this could be disputed as the current Nokia 808 Pureview camera is considerably chunkier than the image showing the 920.

The images do look genuine, but we’ve only to wait until Wednesday for Nokia to confirm what we’re looking at now.

FAKE.

first, his 920 is is actually an 800 body. The buttons are too close to the screen and too far away from the bottom to be a 9XX. The relative distance of the buttons is exactly the same as the 800.

second, the purported 820's buttons are positioned exactly as the 900's buttons are, relative to the screen and bottom of the body.

third, why would the top of the line 920 only have three colors, none of which are cyan which they've tied to Lumia branding?! while the 820 has so many colors?

Doesn't look bad.

As a side note, I love how they're so careful not to show anything in the pictures that might tease an OS feature. LOL

4,3 and 4,5 isn't a noticeable difference. Both are huge. Much more than phone needs to be. They could make larger difference. Something like 4,0 for 820. But, I don't like rounded corners of 820. They just doesn't fit into this design. Original Lumia 800 was best of all. Sadly they used such a great design in front of its time, with incomplete OS.

The perspective of the camera-component on the "820" is wrong. It's not properly proportioned. Seriously looks like it's been slapped on there in photoshop.

After having the iPhone for three generations since the 3GS, I can't wait to dump my iPhone 4S for the Nokia 920 and Windows Phone 8

Nokia have done well with the WP designs and are nicely distinguished by the competition that seems to love curved bezels. Really digging these and interested to see the specs particular around how pureview performs with WP8.

They are not legit pictures, sorry - these are made in 3ds max/maya by a fan.

You're wrong. Tom Warren on The Verge confirmed they are real. Check @tomwarren on twitter, or the comment thread in this story where he explicitly says so. He reveals no details on how he knows, but he obviously knows.

No, I'm not - we gonna see, remember this comment and come back after the 'official' pictures will appear.

The 810 it's just a bad 3d model with the camera position orientated vertically, and othe 910 it's totally wrong, I'm wondering where it have the USB slot? in the speakers? LOL, these 3d models are really really bad.

I have my doubts about these pics, especially With the camera on the pureview model being so small(the phone is just a few mm thicker then the 800). But the usb slot is not the thing that decides fake or not. Can you see the bottom of the phone in those pics? Do you have some more views then the rest of us? I believe that most likely, the usb slot will be in the bottom of all future Nokias because it got too crowded in the top.

I'm still sporting a Windows Mobile phone and have been waiting FOREVER for Verizon to get a good Windows Phone. I was locked into my contract when the Trophy was released and knew that 7.5 would be a dead end when I was eligible so I stayed with my Omnia II.

I've read in the lead up that Verizon will only get the middle of the road Nokia and not the high end. After all this time I'm going to be pretty annoyed if they don't offer both. Does anyone care to speculate or share what they've heard? 4.5", love it. perfect. I suspect the Samsung will come to Verizon but 4.8 will take some getting used to. 4.5 is IMO the perfect compromise between the iPhone and the giant NOTE.

I think them images are the wrong way round, the one at the top looks to have a 'pureview sized' camera housing, not the 800 shaped one at the bottom...

Yep I was thinking the same

not so sure about PureView in that thin shape.
Love the design overall. Glad they are sticking to the Lumia 800 shape. I believe they should release a model in this shape forever its so good!

but I notice the curved screen this time and not the flat one on the Lumia 900

That 920 is looking freaking sweet, i'm a Android guy but man that design looks drool worthy!

Yep, unless something in the specs disappoints this will almost certainly be my next phone.

Oh yeah, I'm not worried about performance given how smooth the WP experience is. I was thinking more about things like resolution and on-board memory although I doubt they'll be too disappointing

WP8 supports 1280x720 screens and microSD slots. I'm sure the 920 will have those and a dual core S4 with 1GB RAM.

why?
Well, mainly I'm shocked because he usually has good things to say about WP. And all that time, he's personally using an iPhone.

i really hope there is a 810 device, and it's 4 inch.

lumia's are the most beautiful phones, and with WP8, it's just not fair.
no phone can match this deadly combination, quality build, with the best OS in the world.

I'm not very keen on how the 820 looks but I'm glad that the 920 is reminiscent of the Lumia 800/900 phones. I hope we get cyan.

He's right, these are FAKE. Look at the details. The purported 920 can't possibly have a PureView sensor and lens because its chassis is too small. Also, look at the positioning of the capacitive buttons relative to the bottom of the body; they are too close to the screen; the 900's buttons are midway between the screen and bottom of the body. The way the buttons are layed out here being close to the screen is exactly how the 800's buttons are positioned.

It's pointless to explain them that these images are fake, just send them PM after the legit images of Nokia 820 and 920 will be released and see what they have to say then, I guess it will be: ""; yes - silence.

The problem is, you can't say for sure they are fake until it is proven.

There are 3 sensor types for the Pureview technology series. The Pureview 808 contains the largest sensor, the other versions are smaller. It's very well possible that the 920 has a Pureview camera.

They look exactly the same to me, apart from the back of the phone. It's very possible that the image in this article is an older or newer render, depending on whether the model shown in the other article is older or not.

Apart from the wrong logo position, wrong camera, no grill, yes - they look the same LOL, because an even earlier prototype was leaked in an earlier post from where he actually was 'inspired', geez.

All of those attributes are on the back of the phone, so my comment is correct.

The problem, as I mentioned, is that you cannot prove they aren't real. You cannot prove they aren't and I cannot prove they are, so being certain about either position is foolish.
