As mentioned in the release schedule, Microsoft is today rolling out Edge version 91 to the stable channel. While the version has been in testing across various Insider channels, the company has noted in a separate blog post all the features that are making it to the browser with this version. The release focuses on bringing new shopping features for the back-to-school season, performance improvements, and new personalization options.

Microsoft Edge version 91 Bing Rebates support

First up are the new shopping features. The Redmond firm has been adding features to find coupons and apply them to the cart via the browser and is now bringing support for Bing Rebates in Edge. This means that users will be able to shop from more than 300 supported retailers from the browser and directly receive cashback. Clicking on the blue tag at the end of the Omnibox displays the available Bing Rebates for the user, which works when users are logged in to their Microsoft accounts in Edge.

Microsoft Edge version 91 Price history feature for shopping

Another nifty addition is a new Price History feature that tracks the price trends of products from nine retailers to provide users with a historic context on the prices of products that they are viewing. This helps users ascertain what the lowest price of a particular product was and helps decide if they should wait or go ahead with the purchase at the current price.

Next up are improvements to performance, something that the firm announced during its Build conference earlier this week. The firm has improved the sleeping tabs feature in Edge that puts inactive tabs to sleep in the background to save system resources. It touts up to 82% memory saving by putting ads on inactive tabs to sleep faster leading to improvements in background resource utilization.

Microsoft Edge version 91 theme options in Appearance settings

There are a few new personalization options heading to Edge users with stable version 91. These include the new theme options that debuted in Edge Canary late last year. The new settings are situated in the Appearance page in Settings and allow users to choose between 10 pre-set themes that apply to the New Tab page and the browser frame.

Another addition when it comes to personalization is the option to tailor news content on the New Tab page. The new ‘Personalize’ option is present in the information section on a new tab and allows users to customize the topics for which news headlines are served. It also allows users to search for interests and enable or disable the topics from this revamped UI.

Microsoft Edge version 91 new tab personalization options

Edge 91 will begin rolling out to all users starting today. As usual, the update will automatically be downloaded in the background. However, you can head to the About Microsoft Edge page in Settings to check for updates and pull the update if it is available. Considering that the rollout is just beginning, it might not show up for all users right away.
