Microsoft to detail international Surface Pro availability in a few weeks

The Surface isn’t even on sale yet (but our review is now up) and for the time being, will only be on sale in the US/Canada. For those outside the walls of North America and are wondering when you will be able to get your paws on the Surface Pro, the best available information is “in the coming months”.

It’s not as bad as you might think as according to the Surface Team member named Ben, we should learn more about international distribution in the next few weeks. A question was asked to the Surface team about when the device would be available in Europe, Ben stated:

We’ll have more to share in the coming weeks with additional markets in the coming months

While not a perfect answer about when others will be able to get their hands on the Pro, it does give a rough timeline of when the product will become available in other markets.

If you haven’t done so yet, make sure to check out our review of the Surface Pro.

I am waiting for the Asus Transformer Book, but not sure when they will release it. If I can't wait I may get this instead.

Same. The Transformer Book looks great. It was either that or the Surface Pro. Both of them need to hurry the **** up and be released though. I'm not waiting months for the Pro to be available in the UK.

This is the biggest problem with Microsoft: distribution and marketing. I don't know how a company can be so good at internationalizing Windows and Office can be so bad at other product launches.

As a person in the US, I clearly have no issue with being the first to get the stuff, and I do believe that we're probably the largest overall market for MS products, but their limited distribution channels (just the Microsoft Store for over a month with the RT; it's not even on Amazon) combined with simply bad marketing always baffles me.

Their first device? Sorry have I missed something? XBox, XBox 360, Zune, Zune HD, countless peripheral - seems like these guys should be able to release worldwide....

Probably won't often say this, but I'm with MFH on this one. I don't mind the Apple-style delay where it gradually rolls out to other countries, but they haven't quite gotten that far yet.

It seems like Microsoft was hoping to surprise people with demand at their own stores, but they quickly realized that they do not have enough stores, which is when they rolled out distribution to Best Buy and Staples.

MFH, and who sells Xbox or sold Zune? Microsoft? No. Thanks for the ignorant comment though, I appreciate you trying.

Seriously, international customers have been waiting for this product expecting similar launch patterns to the Surface RT. We had the RT available a week after the US!

This is leaving me with two options, ditch the whole Microsoft ecosystem for a MacBook air, or import a Surface Pro with one year US warranty instead of two years local.

Other Windows OEM machines are absolutely terrible, and I won't be wasting my money on a crappy plastic laptop full of bloatware.

A delay of months is not acceptable, I'd rather buy a Mac with their awful OS.

Check Lenovo; I will get a Helix.

rumor did say about 1 Million Unit of Surface Pro will be available at launch,
but how much from that 1M will be divided among the stores globally?

And yet nobody cares, these Surface Pros will slip through the cracks until they're discontinued. So disappointed Microsoft!
