NEC launches world's smallest Tablet PC

NEC's new Tablet PC, measuring 15mm thick and weighing 999 grams (2.2 pounds), is the world's thinnest and lightest Tablet PC, reported the Japan Industrial Journal.

Most Tablet PCs on the market weigh at least three pounds.

In a standard configuration of a 10.4-inch TFT LCD, 933MHz Pentium III-M processor, 256MB memory and 20GB hard drive, the VersaPro line of Tablet PCs for business users will be available on January 30 for 296,000 yen (about US $2,510) and the LaVie line for home users on February 7 for 249,800 yen (about US $2,119).

The models also support IEEE 802.11a/b dual wireless networking.

NEC already offers a VersaPro line of notebooks.
