PS3 Media Server 1.50.1

PS3 Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server. Originally written to support the PlayStation 3, PS3 Media Server has been expanded to support a range of other media renderers, including smartphones, televisions, music players and more - all of which are listed on the right. Because it is written in Java, PS3 Media Server supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The program streams or transcodes many different media formats with little or no configuration. It is powered by MEncoder, FFmpeg, tsMuxeR and AviSynth, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats.

What's new in this version:

  • Improved audio/video synchronisation when using tsMuxeR
  • Updated MPlayer/MEncoder to SB22 from SB18
  • Language updates: Russian; Clarified some settings in all languages
  • Fixed delay when entering the media server
  • Improved support for Samsung AllShare devices
  • Updated MediaInfo to 0.7.53 from 0.7.51
  • Updated JRE auto-download to 7u2 from 7u1
  • Updated FFmpeg to r35509 from r31564
  • Added country code thumbnails
  • Fixed #1274

By far the best Media Server for PS3!

Although I still perfer using my computer with Media Player Classic to watch all my files on my HDTV.

Still makes me mad that the PS3 does not support MKV Natively!

Yeah Man, freaking powerful machine the PS3 is, and no native MKV support, WTF.

Well if you jailbreak, you can use Showtime PS3 Media Player, but is still kinda buggy, but it plays MKVs without the PS3 Media Server, even better it can play from any DLNA source like Windows Media Share, XBMC, PS3 Media Server, etc, etc.

When SONY release a firmware with MKV support I will update, menawhile, stick to the ol' CFW 3.55.

Alternatively if you don't like running a relatively new and untried version of Java (there's a reason version 7 hasn't be added to the main downloads page of java.com yet!), give Serviio a try. http://www.serviio.org

It does the same thing more or less, is also Java based, but with the added advantage of being able to input the URLs of web streams from places such as BBC iPlayer and 4OD.

Woah, I was starting to think that they'd stopped working on this. It's great to hear that they haven't, it's a great tool.
