Stardock using the words 'visual styles'? Didn't they always call them Blinds or WindowBlinds like the name of the program that uses them? Feels like they try to steal some search hits from the original, non slowing, usually better looking Visual Styles for the Windows XP Theme Shiznits.

I was unaware 'visual styles' was a protected name. To me visual style is is just that, a visual style. Windowblinds applies a 'visual style' just like any other skinning program. Whether the visual styles are any good is a question of taste.

Weird this hatred. They guy sells a program, and publicizes it. Sane business practice.

I've always wondered why they charge people to get the "pro" version. Doesn't it make sense that if you put the "pro" tools out there you will get better skins and thus attracting people to WindowBlinds?

Just asking.

Because every company needs to make /money/. Half of their products suck arse anyways.

Then if you want to share, you have to get other users to pay. It's a bunch of crap. Half reason why I don't really care to run windows except for gaming. Because I don't have millions of dollars to shell out for stuff that aren't even worth the price they are given.

If you follow Brad's posts you'll see he'll get dumped on by the regular crew. One wonders if they don't like something why they bother? To my mind it's mostly people who are angry because it's actually stuff they'd like to have but it isn't free and hard to crack.

Yes, but if you want users to buy WB and use it, top quality skins need to be available. Charging people to make quality skins with all the bells and whistles, seems to be cutting your nose if in spite of your face.

I can see charging for skins (not that I would pay for one) because of the time some authors invest, but charging for the "pro" tools to create them, no.

One also wonders why post news about something when people don't like it. And you'd have to be pretty nutty to think people are bashing Stardock related posts and products because they want to have them but can't find a crack. Brad stopped posting the news articles because of the people that would comment and then hired Spencer Scott to post since he lists himself as a "Technology Evangelist" spreading the gospel of Stardock.

Yes, i see now. People should only post news that has passed a ballot if 'people' like it.
I rest my case, spiteful doesn't begin to describe it.
