Star Wars releasing on Blu-Ray in September

Since HD DVD and Blu-ray first came on the scene, everyone has been wondering when Star Wars would be available to purchase. According to Amazon.com, we now have our answer: September 27, 2011.

There appears to be three different SKUs available for preorder. One will contain the original trilogy on three discs and includes "Never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and more." The second product also contains three discs for the new trilogy and lists the same special features as the original trilogy. The third product is the "Complete Saga" and contains all six movies spanning nine discs, including "three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features."

Neither Lucas Arts nor Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed the street date, but it would be unusual for the online superstore to pick a random date and put it up on the site.

The movies that defined childhood for many people has been released on so many different formats with so many different versions throughout the years, but everyone still cries for the best picture and sound quality they can and this release will hopefully deliver.

Only one question remains: Who shot first?
