Streets of Rage 4 announcement arrives with slick trailer showing off hand-drawn visuals

Streets of Rage originally made its debut back in 1991 on the Mega Drive/Sega Genesis. After a long hiatus and nearly three decades after the original debut, the series will finally gain another entry.

Streets of Rage 4 will arrive through a collaborative effort between Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu. If you aren't familiar with any of the previously mentioned names, you may instead be familiar with some of Lizardcube's work, as they previously worked on the remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. Much like Wonder Boy, the new Streets of Rage title will feature beautiful hand-drawn visuals, which can be seen in the short trailer.

Although we see the return of Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding, the trailer does not include character Adam Hunter, who was part of the original trio. According to the video's description, the game will offer "new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem". Currently, there isn't a release date for the game and it is unknown which consoles it will be made available to.
