Toys R Us sells 20GB PS3 for $299.98

It looks like Toys R Us still has some stock left over of the now discontinued PlayStation 3 20GB console. I would say the retail store was saving it for the holidays. Anyway, the most important piece of information here, is the price. If you don’t mind the smaller hard drive (or don’t mind putting a bigger one in later) and lack of wireless support, you can pick one of these up for a mere $299.98. That’s right; the price has gone down significantly from the $500 this flavour of the PS3 was once available for. Good luck finding this one in stock though, I doubt Toys R Us has plenty to spare, especially now that we’re in December!

The Sony players are $299 now, but they aren't upgradeable to Profile 1.1. Even the 20 gigger should be compatible with the recent 2.10 firmware update.

Is there anybody out there this day in age that is buying a PS3 that doesn't have a wi-fi router and/or wi-fi usb adapter? I never really liked that complaint, cause I've been fine without it. The memory slots on the other hand would've been nice.

Other than this version, wake me when a PS3 that isn't missing features (such as WiFi or PS2 compatibility) drops to $249 or below.

eh.. so this version doesnt play PS2 games? shame.. that would be one of my reasons for buying a PS3!
that is a hell of a price though

they had to take out the part that makes it backwards compatible to lower the price. if you want to complain buy another model

the 20gb model does play ps2 games, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about

I don't know which is more sad, the fact that they've had to drop the price 40% or $200 within the first year, or the fact that these things have been sitting around, unsold, for that year.

Bad side
- It's a silly overpriced PS3
- No WiFi
- Kinda small drive

Good:
- Cheapest way to get a PS3
- Cheapest way to get a Blu-Ray player
- If I'm not mistaken, doesn't this have the full hardware backwards compatibility with PS2 games?
