Ubisoft opening new development studios in France and Germany

In a blog post, Ubisoft has announced new game development studios opening in Bordeaux, France, and Berlin, Germany. Once established later this year, they will assist in the development of AAA games for the publisher's other studios, with Ubisoft worldwide studios director Christine Burgess-Quémard stating, “We pride ourselves on attracting and retaining the best creative talent around the world, and on establishing video games as a viable career option and economic contributor in new locales.”

The new Bordeaux studio will be collaborating with the four other Ubisoft development teams situated in France, known for their recent releases such as Steep, Ghost Recon Wildlands, as well as the Just Dance series.

Meanwhile, the new Berlin studio will be working closely with Ubisoft's Blue Byte studio on an unannounced AAA project, and also aims to expand its staff by 50 within the first 12 months of operation.

Blue Byte is well known for its Anno and Settlers strategy series and recently worked on the PC port of Ubisoft Montreal's popular game, For Honor. All in all, the unannounced project could mean another Settlers or Anno entry is on the horizon.

Both new studios are currently looking for local talent, with available openings listed on Ubisoft's dedicated jobs section.
