Waterfox 14.0.1 released [Updated]

Waterfox | The fastest 64-Bit variant of Firefox!

Waterfox is a 64-Bit version of Firefox. The Firefox source code is taken and compiled to run specifically for 64-Bit Windows computers. To make Waterfox stand out a bit more, it’s compiled with optimizations so that it will run more efficiently and faster than just compiling Firefox as a 64-Bit program. For some people with older systems, the 64-Bit version loads quicker and is much more responsive than the 32-Bit build.

How does it compare to 32-Bit Firefox?
In benchmarks, the 64-Bit variant of Firefox out-performs the 32-Bit variant. Also because this variant is being built specifically for Windows, there might be further performance increases.

Were there any optimisations made?
Yes, Waterfox was compiled with SSE, SSE2, x64 favoring and the following optimisation flags: /Og /Oi /Ot /Oy /Ob2 /Gs /GF /Gy

What's New in Waterfox?

  • Compiled with Profile-Guided Optimization
  • Working automatic updater
  • Digitally signed executables
  • Compiled with the following flags: /O3 /QaxAVX /arch:SSE3 /Qparallel /fp:precise /Oi- /w
  • A brand new installer
  • Support for Windows XP x64

What's New in Firefox?

  • Google searches now utilize HTTPS
  • The Awesome Bar now auto-completes typed URLs
  • Improved site identity manager, to prevent spoofing of an SSL connection with favicons
  • Pointer Lock API implemented
  • New API to prevent your display from sleeping
  • New text-transform and font-variant CSS improvements for Turkic languages and Greek
  • Various security fixes
  • GIF animation can gets stuck when src and image size are changed (743598)
  • OS X: nsCocoaWindow::ConstrainPosition uses wrong screen in multi-display setup (752149)
  • CSS :hover regression when an element's class name is set by Javascript (758885)

Okay it's time to officially permanently uninstall this unprofessional piece of crap till Mozilla releases their official 64 bit version hopefully when Firefox 113 releases. Take this message as a warning to whoever plans to download this version, it's buggy as hell and task bar jump lists is also bugged.

Totally gave up on this browser along with Seamonkey and Palemoon simply because of that pluginwrapper crap that can no longer be disabled!! Dumbest thing ever! Never needed it before and don't need it now, especially since, for some REAL stupid reason, it want's to connect to the internet! That ain't happening! I don't care if it's supposed to save your browser from crashing if a plugin fails or not. Never had a problem with any of the 3 addons I used, but have had issues with the pluginwrapper itself!!

Thank goodness for IE 9!!

Pluginwrapper? You mean the plugincontainer running in a seperate exe? Really have no clue what you are rambling about but I hope you enjoy IE9...

If you pin it to the taskbar and try to launch 'private browsing' or 'open new tab' from the jumplist, it gives an error that the file doesn't have a program associated with it. Got it on a pc with an upgrade from Waterfox 13 and on another where the previous version was uninstalled first.

Something wrong with the installer - had to system restore to get a working Waterfox 13 back. recommend waiting for whatever bug-fix is released in the near future

Anyone else having problems with this? It seems to install ok, but on running I get 2 errors - both concerning things missing from "mozjs.dll"

Problem fixed - I hadn't uninstalled the previous version.
