WindowBlinds 7.01

If you have Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7, then WindowBlinds 7 is the application you need to easily and safely change the visual style of the user interface.  Thousands of skins are available for download, and free tools are available to create your own skins for the ultimate in personalization.  WindowBlinds 7 also introduced the ability to "skin" Aero.  Easily change the look of Windows Aero by changing colors and adding unique textures.

New in this update:

  • Microsoft themepacks now appear as sub-styles of Aero, and can be applied
  • New guided tour on first run
  • More textures added
  • Explorer backgrounds page now shows the textures from the textures page too
  • Many other minor tweaks
  • Modified Aero entry added to skin list.

WindowBlinds 7 is part of the Object Desktop suite of desktop enhancements, and can be purchased stand-alone for $19.95.  If you are a current user, you can update via Impulse.

on my quad core Phenom/GTS 250 i've no problems whatsoever. Better look at your drivers first. Everything as smooth as silk. Been using it for years now

Well i use FRAPS, i was told by stardock Wincustomize has issues with video capture software, and i NEED fraps. They also said youll be able to see it redrawing when transparency effects are on. As for drivers, all up to date, no other issues with any software..ever

I bought this over a month ago and ended up getting it refunded. Aside from the fact that there are few good quality skins where the taskbar isnt filling 25% of the screen, the program has bugs. I was having issues on both my PC's where once a window was off screen or partially off the 'edge' it got laggy, and using transparency effects youd watch it redraw itself. Menus bugging out etc etc. Quad core system with ati 4890 getting lag with WB..something was wrong. Its a pity though i have to go back to replacing system files :(

tried WB7, played around with all the tweaks available and that helped understand in details, why is aero theme become like what it is now.

This is a very vague statement. A simple change of wallpaper can change the visual style of windows and you certainly don't need a program that costs $20 to do that.

Weird, all commenters seem to have seen and tried all the skins that exist. Windows Aero is bland enough to be just about right for corporate use, of the 100's of skins available for WB almost anyone of them but the kiddy stuff is an improvement over the pin stripe suit W7.

I would bet most have never really looked.

am 100% sure because the remarks made don't reflect reality much. But it's not free, so in their minds it must be rubbish i guess

to those who complain about the 'horrible skins', please create and post one so we'll know what a quality skin looks like. i'm begging you to do it!

There's a few really nice skins for 7 that were created by a few members here. They are far from horrible and better than the majority that I've seen over @ customize.org.

ok, if that's the case, convert them to the windowblinds format so the windowblinds users can benefit from the superior skinning designs you speak of.

I like Windowblinds, I just can't find a suitable theme. They all look corny.

I AGREE!!

WindowBlinds could be Ok, but after 10 years or whatever, most skins still look horrid.

It's unfortunate those who are skilled enough to make a skin rarely understand art, color balance, or anything else that would make a skin enjoyable.

Instead of pleasing, easy-on-the-eyes skins, we get gaudy skins, bright, ugly colors, big, nasty graphics, colors that clash and hard to see, etc.

yea I gotta say, since Vista, and even more now with 7, there's no need for skinning programs. MS finally created a Windows Interface that's nice to look at

But if you're still on XP by all means use this product lol

It's a matter of taste but I'm not only using XP but also the classic theme. From the day XP came out with that ugly Luna theme I've been disabling the themes service itself. I still like classic a lot better than Aero or whatever it's called now.

Since I was an early Windows Vista user I quit these customization apps.
And with Windows 7 they are less fascinating than ever.
