At Microsoft's Build 2017 developer conference in May, the firm announced the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (FCU), along with a number of features that will be included, such as the Fluent Design System. It also unveiled some new features that are meant for continuity across devices, such as Timeline and Pick up where you left off.
But with the new feature update due to be released in just a couple of months, you might have noticed that Timeline hasn't made its way into Insider Previews yet, and the reason for that is that the feature has been postponed, as Joe Belfiore confirmed today via Twitter. Instead, we'll begin seeing it in Insider Preview builds following the release of the FCU, currently known as Redstone 4.
If you head over to Microsoft's page that lists the upcoming features for Windows 10, you'll see that it still says that both Timeline and Pick up where you left off are slated to arrive in the FCU. Naturally, there's also a disclaimer that says that the product is still under development and features can change at any time.
Of course, there always seems to be one feature that's promised but doesn't make it into the final product. With the Creators Update in April, it was My People (this will be in the FCU), and with the Anniversary Update, it was Messaging Everywhere. Hopefully, Timeline is only delayed like the former, rather than being scrapped altogether like the latter.
