Xperia Tablet outed before IFA 2012

Pictures of Sony's new Xperia tablet have been leaked along with its specs thanks to a member on the XDA Developers forums. There are currently three sexy pictures of the Xperia-branded tablet, and it does appear to be more attractive than Sony's previous Tablet S device.

We can see that the Xperia tablet seems to have some form of clip on the top back part of the device. The device sports a two-tone look which, in traditional Sony style, looks very classy.

The device will have a a Tegra 3 chip, meaning that it is quad-core. The cameras include a 1 megapixel front-facing camera and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera. The device is made out of a magnesium alloy and weighs about 570 grams. We expect to see the device in September and three models will be made available: a 16GB model priced at $399, a 32GB model priced at $499, and a 64GB model priced at $599.

We can also reveal that the device will run Android 4.0 (Ice-cream Sandwich) out of the box. Sony's Walkman brand reboot will also return as an application for the device. We're hoping to learn more about this device at IFA 2012. In the meantime, feel free to have a look at the gallery with the press shots of the Xperia tablet included.

What next - Arc tablet? Have they no mind? Its functions amaze, but - ermahgerd! - that stupid bump! It does seem that nobody except Apple knows how to design anything SIMPLE...

Looks decent but is it worth two Nexus tablets? $399 isn't really a bad price but it has to have some sort of competitive edge to make people fork over an extra $200 (for a device not even running the latest version of Android unlike the Nexus)

Want a competitive edge?

How about an IR blaster, including an app that supports creating multi-device macro's so you can turn on your TV, cable receiver and surround system with just one tap? It's the ultimate universal remote.

Basically the Sony tablest are a complete all-in-one media machine. You can control all your devices, stream to all your devices, stream from all your computers, it's pretty nice.

This.

Sony are by far the only tablet make that has actually bothered in designing a tablet that actually has sales points. All other Android tablets are just trying to ape the iPad (except the Transformer), but people just see them as an iPad copy as they don't do anything else special the iPad can't.

Agreed.

Samsung tablets have that too.

And only 600mah battery? Wow that's low.

I don't like the back of it. but for the rest it looks sexy

Well, at least they're safer from patent litigation by Apple than the rest of the big tablet makers...
