Today, Xiaomi unveiled the latest member of the Mi 10 family of smartphones, the Mi 10 Ultra, in China. As the name suggests, the new smartphone features a number of features that make it stand out, even among other flagships phones.
One of those features is 120W wired charging, which is making its official debut in a smartphone with the Mi 10 Ultra. Companies have been pushing for higher charging speeds for a while now, and 120W charging was first teased over a year ago. However, Xiaomi is the first to bring it to a mass-production device, and it promises to fully charge the 4,500mAh battery in 23 minutes, or get 41% charge in 5 minutes. Xiaomi is also adhering to Qualcomm"s Quick Charge 5, so it should be easier to find compatible chargers later on. In addition to fast wired charging, the Mi 10 Ultra also supports 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Another standout feature of the Mi 10 Ultra is the camera setup. The main camera uses a custom-made 48MP sensor, with a 1/1.32-inch sensor and pixel size up to 1.2μm, significantly larger than the Sony IMX586. That Sony sensor is used in the periscope camera instead, which offers 10x optical zoom, and for the first time in a phone, 120x digital zoom, even beating the 100x zoom in Samsung"s Galaxy S20 Ultra. There"s also a 12MP "portrait" lens with 2x optical zoom and a 20MP ultra-wide angle camera. The front-facing camera is also 20MP.
It has a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display, with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The peak brightness is 1120 nits, and it supports 10-bit color depth, so it can display up to 1.07 billion colors. It should also be pretty color accurate, with a JNCD value under 0.63 and a Delta-E below 1.
Aside from that, it"s a typical flagship phone, with a Snapdragon 865 at its core - not the Snapdragon 865+, curiously - up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage and 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Xiaomi says the Mi 10 Ultra broke records in the AnTuTu benchmark, reaching scores upward of 660,000.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will be available in China on August 16, starting at ¥5,299 (roughly $762.53) for the version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and going all the way up to ¥6,999 ($1007.16) for the top-tier configuration. There"s no word yet on worldwide availability.
