1TB Core i7 Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 now on sale, along with new gold Surface Pen

When it unveiled the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book in October, Microsoft announced that both devices would eventually be offered in an ultra-high-end configuration, with an Intel Core i7 (Skylake) processor, 16GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of storage.

Today - three and a half months after that announcement - both the Pro 4 and Book are now available with those range-topping specs in the United States and Canada.

The 1TB Surface Book, priced at $3,199 USD, will only be available to order online "via Microsoft Stores and other select retailers". The 1TB Surface Pro 4, which costs $2,699 USD, can be configured on the Microsoft Store site, and will also be sold in the company"s brick-and-mortar stores as well as through other "select retailers".

Alongside that announcement, Microsoft also unveiled a new gold version of its Surface Pen today. The new color option - which, like the existing silver, black and dark blue versions, is priced at $59.99 in the US - will also be sold in Canada, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

It"s worth noting, however, that while these new high-end Surfaces are now available to buy, Microsoft still hasn"t fixed some of the problems on both devices for which it apologized to its customers six weeks ago. One particularly troublesome issue prevents the devices from properly entering a "sleep" state, resulting in significant battery drain even when not in use.
