Amazon.com has begun taking orders for Norton 360, Symantec"s consumer all-in-one security suite and competitor to Microsoft"s Windows Live OneCare and McAfee"s Total Protection. According to Amazon"s website, Norton 360 will now ship March 16 – previously the site reported February 26, but Symantec alerted Amazon of the mistake. The suite, which has been in development for more than a year, will be sold at Amazon as a three-PC subscription for $76.99. Amazon is offering OneCare 1.5 at $39.99. Both Symantec and Microsoft offer $20 rebates (Visa-only for Symantec) which drops the final costs to $56.99 and $19.99, respectively. Symantec and McAfee are attempting to respond to last year"s release of Microsoft OneCare, which broke pricing ground when it announced a $49.95 three-PC annual subscription. If price is anything to go by, Symantec is going nowhere.
