AMD Radeon 18.9.3 driver rolls out with Forza Horizon 4 and AC: Odyssey improvements

September has been a busy month for AMD, with the company now releasing its third driver update of the month for its Radeon graphics cards. Today"s Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.9.3 driver is optimized for two AAA releases that are slated for next week, Forza Horizon 4 and Assassin"s Creed Odyssey.

Sadly, the company hasn"t gone into detail on what sort of improvements does this driver deliver for Microsoft"s open-world racer, but it is recommended for anyone looking to pick the game up. Forza Horizon 4 opens up to Ultimate Edition owners on September 28 while everyone else gets access on October 2.

On the other hand, Assassin"s Creed Odyssey performance boosts did get some detailing, where the driver can deliver up to 3% and 5% faster performance in RX 580 and RX Vega 64 graphics cards respectively. This new Ancient Greece set adventure will begin on October 5, with special edition owners getting to jump in early on October 2.

As usual, keep in mind that the extra performance should arrive for AMD"s entire GCN line-up even if they aren"t mentioned in the release notes. There are a couple of fixes included in the driver as well, along with some known issues that are being looked at:

Fixed Issues

  • Stutter may be observed when exceeding Radeon FreeSync range in certain high framerate scenarios.
  • System configurations with 16 CPU cores may experience a random system reboot during installation when upgrading Radeon Software from a version older than RSAE 18.8.1.

Known Issues

  • Some AMD Ryzen™ Desktop Processors with Radeon™ Vega Graphics system configurations may experience a black screen during installation downgrade to a previous Radeon Software version. A recommended workaround is to perform a clean install during Radeon Software installation.
  • Radeon RX Vega Series graphics products may experience elevated memory clocks during system idle.

The Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.9.3 driver is now available to download via the links listed in its release notes as well as through the AMD Radeon Settings interface on Windows.
