Anduril and Meta partner on XR products for U.S. military

Anduril Industries, a fast-growing defense technology startup, is working to bring advanced technology solutions to the U.S. military. Last year, Anduril Industries announced a partnership with Microsoft to improve the Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) Program. In February this year, Anduril announced an expanded partnership with Microsoft to assume production, continued hardware and software development, and delivery schedules for the IVAS program.

Today, Anduril announced a new partnership with Meta to design, build, and field a number of integrated XR products that can be used in the battlefield by the US military. Anduril highlighted that this effort has been funded only through private capital, without any support from the US government or its agencies.

Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta, said the following regarding the partnership:

“Meta has spent the last decade building AI and AR to enable the computing platform of the future. We’re proud to partner with Anduril to help bring these technologies to the American servicemembers that protect our interests at home and abroad.”

Palmer Luckey, Founder of Anduril, said the following regarding this new partnership:

“I am glad to be working with Meta once again. Of all the areas where dual-use technology can make a difference for America, this is the one I am most excited about. My mission has long been to turn warfighters into technomancers, and the products we are building with Meta do just that.”

The XR products developed as part of this partnership will work seamlessly with Anduril"s Lattice, an AI-powered command and control system that offers real-time battlefield intelligence. This will enable US military soldiers to access Lattice"s analytical capabilities via a natural AR/VR interface.

In fact, Anduril and Meta have already worked together to submit a white paper for Soldier-Borne Mission Command Next, formerly IVAS Next. After taking over the contract from Microsoft, Anduril claims to have made significant progress to transition IVAS to SBMC from concept to demonstrated, soldier-tested capability.
