Respawn Entertainment"s massively popular battle royale Apex Legends is kicking off its Warriors Collection event later today, and with it will finally arrive with next-gen enhancements for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. The free upgrade has players on modern consoles gaining higher resolution gameplay, better stabilized frame rates, HDR support, and more features.

Frame rates will be locked to 60 with no dips in sight following the update across all modern consoles. However, there are several upgrades that will skip the Series S. Full 4K output, higher resolution shadow maps, and greater LOD distances are only available to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 players.
For those disappointed about not having a 120 FPS option, Respawn Entertainment confirmed further updates are in the works to add the feature alongside additional "next-gen" visual and audio improvements. Support for DualSense controller"s haptics and adaptive triggers are also planned for later updates.
Thanks to Xbox Smart Delivery, the upgraded version will be playable automatically when launching from an Xbox Series X or S console. On PlayStation 5, however, existing players will need to choose the new PlayStation 5 version they need downloaded from the Game Hub and delete the old PlayStation 4 version afterward. Meanwhile, players installing a fresh copy will need to make sure they select the PlayStation 5 version from the prompt when downloading.
