Apple to fix random iOS 7 reboots in next update

Apple has promised to fix the bug causing random reboots and drop in battery in iPhones running the latest iOS 7 in its next update.

Certain iPhone users with iOS 7 started reporting a so-called "white screen of death" in forums and on Twitter since September. According to the users, the homescreen on the phone freezes up and then performs a soft reboot after being stuck on the Apple boot logo for some time. The boot screen colour depends on the colour of the device according to some reports. It is also observed that the bug occurs once the battery drops below 30% on the iPhone.

Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller has responded to Mashable saying that, "We have a fix in an upcoming software update for a bug that can occasionally cause a home screen crash."

This isn"t the first time that an iOS update has caused random reboots on Apple devices, but the company has acknowledged the issue and confirmed to fix the update in the near future. The update is expected to land with the upcoming iOS 7.1 which is currently in beta stage and is likely to bring minor UI updates along with bug fixes.
