We"ve mentioned the RV250 a few times now and ATI decided not to introduce it at CeBIT but this month.
Here"s a detail we were unfamiliar with before – the number of pipelines is less than we expected, because the V in the name stands for value.
We now understand that the RV250 will have just two pipelines and two texture units, and it will be positioned to compete with the Geforce 2 or 4 MX cards and not the TI as we previously suggested.
The reason is that the ATI RV250 will be fully DirectX 8 compatible, and GF 4 MX are not. And these "value" cards make the real money for both ATI and not Nvidia, and not the GF4 and Radeon 8500 products.
