It seems Australian police are up to more than just policing, with the official Twitter account for Australia"s capital police retweeting and favouriting pornography.

The tweets was of a woman going by the name "Katie Sanders", who was showing off a pair of black furry winter boots with nothing else on, saying "One good thing about winter ... these boots! #ThonglessThursday" The tweet was retweeted and favourited by the police"s Twitter account.

A staff member was quick to remove the retweet and unfollow Katie Sanders" account, saying in a tweet that they were "not sure" how the "untoward tweet" got on their account.

Thanks to those who brought an untoward tweet to our attention. Not sure how it got on our page, but it"s deleted and our account is secure.

Despite deleting the retweet, the account still favourited similar tweets by Katie, which went unnoticed for hours before finally getting removed.

The incident has no doubt left the police red-faced and over-exposed.
