Civilization VI Platinum Edition is free to claim on the Epic Games Store

The Epic Games Store just refreshed its weekly giveaway promotion, and replacing last week"s Figment 2: Creed Valley and Sky Racket offers is a massive game: Sid Meier"s Civilization VI. This is not just the base game being offered either, as important expansions and DLC are included as part of the Platinum Edition. As always, you have seven days to add the latest indie game permanently to your Epic Games Store library.

Developed by Firaxis Games, Civilization VI is a 4X turn-based strategy experience that has been a favorite among many fans of the genre, with it still holding onto more players than the sequel. For those unfamiliar with it, the 4X term is given to how players will be exploring, expanding, exploiting, and exterminating throughout their world-conquering campaigns.

The open-ended strategy game begins in the ancient era, letting players slowly research technologies, develop cultures, and find other civilizations across the land. As the eras go by, the title heads towards the modern age with its own wonders and issues. There are multiple ways to win every match too, including science, culture, religion, domination, or diplomacy victories, which require specific advancements.

As this is the Platinum Edition that"s being given away, you also have access to a wide range of expansions and DLC packs. This includes the most popular Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions that add deeper simulation and management systems to the title, as well as six DLC packs that bring additional civilizations to control or play against, as well as a range of scenario packs.

The Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Platinum Edition giveaway is live right now on the Epic Games Store. It is slated to last until July 24. When the massive pack is not on sale, it usually costs $79.99 to purchase.
