Claude can now read your health data and give you personalized insights

Anthropic just launched health data integrations for Claude that let users connect their favorite health apps to the AI assistant.

Access to this data lets Claude summarize medical history and explain health-related numbers in plain language.

Announced earlier this month, the health integrations are now available in beta to Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US on Android and iOS.

Connecting personal health data to Claude should give users personalized insights and advice based on their actual metrics. Anthropic still stresses that Claude"s answers aren"t a substitute for medical guidance, and that anything more serious should be reviewed by a medical professional.

With privacy being the main concern when handing sensitive data to companies, Claude promises strict policies to protect user information. Linking your chosen health app to Claude requires explicit opt-in, and health-related conversations aren"t used for training AI models or included in chat memory.

Anthropic hasn"t specified whether users" health data is processed for purposes like service delivery, safety monitoring, debugging, abuse prevention, or regulatory compliance.

Anthropic is investing heavily in optimizing Claude for handling health data. The same blog post announced an even bigger feature for medical professionals, Claude for Healthcare. This HIPAA-compliant version lets doctors connect Claude to databases like CMS coverage policies, ICD-10 codes, and patient health records.

Early users of Claude"s health connectors share mixed opinions. While some are already feeding Claude years of their health data to build personalized dashboards, others remain skeptical over privacy, despite Anthropic"s promises of a secure chamber within Claude.

Recent moves from major AI players signal their efforts to massively diversify their sphere of influence across different areas of users" lives. OpenAI introduced its own health integrations for ChatGPT and started showing ads to lower-tier subscribers. Microsoft is pushing Copilot across all of its services and investing heavily in data centers.
